chill-out terrace, Sky Zambra, and our unique
Bar Lobby Los Naranjos . With extensive experience spanning places such as Barcelona and London,
Daniela Garbi tells us how she plans her new stage at the hotel and what guests who follow her recommendations will find.
Daniela's cocktails have a much more innovative vision and are inspired by a multitude of elements, such as research into techniques and flavours to obtain unique and impressive cocktails. Sounds appetising, right?
“We will continue to offer international cocktails, but the idea is that the customer takes something more and can have an experience”
If you are looking for more creative inspiration, you have found the ideal person for your immersion in the world of cocktails.
Daniela Garbi is a true fan of combining flavours and has arrived to bring the freshness of the latest trends in this art. “My school was Dry Martini in Barcelona, where I learned everything about technique and also customer service. I went to London with the intention of improving my English and getting to know the birthplace of cocktail making, and I found myself in a very exclusive establishment serving cocktails to celebrities like David Beckham or Nikki Minaj, who were looking for intimacy and well-prepared drinks. In Ibiza, on the other hand, I learned a lot about how to deal with VIP clients and, at the same time, how to offer a highly personalized service.”
As a true lover of the island, and despite the fact that one of her greatest inspirations is found in travel, Garbi has chosen the quality of life in Tenerife to continue her career.
“From each of the places I have been, I have taken away different experiences and sensations,” she tells us in reference to her inspiration. “I have my knowledge, I know how to make a Daiquiri, but I travel and see how they make them in different places and then I decide which is the best recipe to offer. Even if I know the classic recipe, I can always give it a personal touch.”
She is passionate about the world of cocktails, which is why she always tries to reinvent herself and learn from everything around her:
“I look at everything with a bartender’s eyes . It affects the way I dress and how I approach life. I see a plant and think about how to make a cocktail with its leaves. It is very similar to the sensitivity that chefs have, although they are years ahead of us.”
Daniela is delighted with the cocktail concept of our hotel and also highlights the
detox juice menu that she will be working on personally. “Our
detox bar will have natural options for guests who take care of themselves: fruits, vegetables, spices… Everything prepared at the moment and with all the necessary machinery and technology. We will also have
the freshest cocktails by the pool and, of course,
a signature menu for those who want to dare and innovate . We will continue to offer international cocktails – Manhattan fans will definitely have them – but the idea is that the client takes away something more and can interact. In other words, have an experience.”
With several awards under her belt, Classic Cocktail Champion at the Costa Adeje Tournament, first place in the Jerry Thomas Competition and semi-finalist in the Worldclass Competition in the Canary Islands, Garbi has no shortage of
funny anecdotes to tell us.
As he recalls from his time in Barcelona, “Once a very calm man came and asked me for whiskey cream with cola, so I started to prepare it as if it were nothing. He immediately said to me 'stop, stop, stop... you're incredible because you're the only bartender I've said this to and she doesn't make a strange face'. It turns out he was an undercover critic, one of those who go to evaluate places to give awards. Obviously, he wasn't going to take it - we all know that it's a sacrilege in the world of cocktails - but it was his way of testing and seeing if he was capable of attending to the craziest requests of the clients.”
